First Impressions

My friend Kate is celebrating her 30th Birthday this week. And here's what I have to say about that: I don't always remember the first time I met someone. Meetings and parties can blend into each other, and somehow you just come to know that that person just came into your life, and now is a fixture that can't be forgotten.

Kate isn't like that at all.

I remember exactly what I was wearing when I met Kate, because when I met her, I was wearing a fat suit and a full beard. Much like the photo below. In fact, EXACTLY like the photo below. So when Kate met me I was an old fat man with a lady-voice.

What does this mean? That either I made the best first impression ever or the worst, and that entirely depends on if Kate is the kind of person who appreciates having friends who dress in insane costumes at the drop of a hat. Since Kate is an AWESOME person, it was a good first impression and we have been friends since that night. Later, Kate got to meet me as me, but I think it says something very cool about her that she didn't let the beard get in the way of our friendship.

Even though it is made of real human hair.

Who knows, maybe the beard helped.

Kate is Full of Win. I raise my glass to a hundred years of Kate. Kate forever.
