Mask

May the 4th?

The Internet is telling me it's Star Wars Day. Which I ordinarily wouldn't mention, but I had a Star Wars dream last night! And it was awesome!

In this dream, I was at Star Wars Fantasy Camp in Los Vegas, which isn't a real thing, but the 501st was there, and a bunch of kids dressed like Ewoks and lots and lots of people in costume. We were playing out this little scenario - where the Empire was making a last ditch strike at the rebels and we all have to escape from this insane space castle.

Now remember, this isn't actually a "I'm in Star Wars" dream. For some reason my dream was "I paid a lot of money to go to Star Wars Fantasy Camp". Everyone had assigned roles for the camp. I have no idea why my brain thought it was better to dream I was in Fantasy Camp then actually in Star Wars, but there you have it. My role was as Princess Leia's handmaiden, because apparently, all the other women wanted to be storm troopers.

So, somehow, my dream fantasy camp had gotten Carrie Fisher to be Princess Leia for the camp and I had to find her and "attend" to her. It was Carrie Fisher as she is now (hilarious writer) rather than Carrie Fisher of A New Hope. So, what I'm saying is, it was the best possible Carrie Fisher. Anyway, I found her in the crowd after she had given this big "Go out there and get them!" speech to a bunch of people dressed like Tie Fighters.

I was dressed in a simple version of that white dress she wears in the movies, and she walked up to me and said:

"Who are you?"

And I said, rather nervously: "Oh, I'm your handmaiden."

"Ah." she said.

"Well, actually," I said, "I'm a PR person for a non-profit that builds ecologically responsible buildings, but for the purpose of today, I'm your handmaiden."

And she said: "Oh."

And I said, "What I'm saying here, is that I'm a good person."

And she said "Let's do this!"

And then we slid down a laundry shoot and had a fantastic escape scene with a flight simulator.

So, Happy Star Wars Day? I wish you all awesome adventure dreams.
