The Flying Spaghetti Monster

I’ve been reluctant to tell anyone about this for the paranoid fear that I would jinx it, but I am now published! In a book! Being sold in a bookstore!

You can now find the work of J.R. Blackwell in bookstores! Today, I walked into Barnes and Noble, and THERE IT WAS, on the center table, displayed for all to see!

My essay "Evidence of a Baker" is included in The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a very funny, very noodly book. It’s a parody on Intelligent Design and the general madness of certain school boards in the United States who believe that we should teach creationism in science class. If you like satire, or noodles or pirates, this is the book for you.

My father is a science teacher. He has always advocated for evolution and against the madness of teaching creation “science”. When I told him that I was published in a book of satire on intelligent design, I think he just about exploded with pride. I’ve always loved science and technology, but as my schooling progressed, it became clear that these were not my strengths. It makes me happy that I wrote this satire and that Bobby and his editor liked it enough to include it in the book. That feels good. It’s a good day.

But there is no rest for the wicked. It’s off to the next project for me!
