A few people have asked that I write about my upcoming wedding. A lot of wonderful things have been happening on that front, so to try to write out everything seems like a huge task to me. So instead of writing a giant post-to-end-all-posts, I think I might just put up interesting pieces of the wedding planning as they occur to me.
Today, you get a post about my wedding boots.
When I was in the early stages of wedding planning, I thought I might go barefoot. This was when our plan was to get married on a sandy beach. Cool or hot, I love the feel of sand beneath my feet. Then plans changed a bit, and now we are having a wedding in a garden. It's a lovely garden, but bare feet didn't seem quite right, so I decided to go for boots.
I've always dreamed of having a really nice pair of stompy boots and this was the perfect opportunity to invest in a pair. One of the ideas I've stuck to in my wedding is to buy clothing that I can wear again and again. I don't want to buy a one time dress - I want to wear my wedding dress as much as I can for the rest of my life - same with my wedding shoes. I want my money's worth, damnit!
So here they are - a nice low heel for comfort, and some traction for a night of dancing. Give me a shoe I can dance in, climb in, and I'll be a happy woman.
Many thanks to my bridesmaid Alison for guiding me through the murky waters of the internet to find the perfect boot.

My second place pick was called "Predator" and it had a lovely knife holster on the side. Unfortunately, I don't have the right knife to go in the holster, and I think it would have felt empty without one. The idea of wearing a knife as the wedding ceremony is performed holds a certain amount of appeal for me - even more so knowing that it would have been hidden under my dress.
