Thank you Kyle. I really love my neighborhood - for the most part it's all local food, alert neighbors, great theater and bouncing babies in this corner of the sky- but this was just a little too odd to let go. I'll have to blog about one of the many wonderful things that happen here to make up for it! :-)

it might not have been a bad idea to call the police anyway, get their descriptions down. the next neighbor might not be so savvy as you. ;)

*hugs*

also, your neighborhood? it rocks. if i were to live in philly, it's where i'd want to be.

I did end up calling the cops to let them know. I really hope they are just terrible, stupid sales-people who are just doing their job poorly in order to get people to buy their security system.

They just did a seriously creepy job at sales.

I love my neighborhood. It's almost utopian at times. Sure, it has some issues, but it's also wonderful in many ways.

eh, every place has it's issues. your neighborhood is vibrant and alive in a way that so many aren't. plus, you and jared live there. that increases it's fantasticness right there. :D

twice now i've had someone come to the door (same guy each time, but a year apart) saying he was a college student, he'd just moved in and he'd gotten locked out of his house across the street -- he had the lock-smith over there but they wanted $20 to open the door -- and he'd bring it right back because his wallet was on the table. i posted about it (both times) to the UC Neighbors mailing list and we were able to track his progress around the neighborhood because sure enough, he'd show up at someone elses door 20 minutes later. forewarned is fivearmed or something like that....

Oh, wow. What a con!

I suppose that open communication between neighbors is what helps keep our neighborhood the awesome place it is to live in. :-)
